Another week of living the hard money standard with bitcoin. Do I want to go back to fiat? Hell no.
Why do I continue? Because I look at the “problems people have with bitcoin” and observe generally they are not issues with hard money or the network. They are often personal beliefs.
At some point, I believe we will hit that “light switch” moment, where people just expect their lights to work when they flick the switch, without being hung up on the technology, systems, science, environment, cost or politics behind it.
It appears to be a big gap. But I think it can be quickly put into perspective as the fiat system continues to roll out their brand of control vs the freedom Bitcoin offers.
The people that are genuinely looking to bring hard money to the base layer of society through the Lightning Network exist. I have met some in person. And this gives hope and inspires me to continue looking for those 1% things that will compound into the critical mass of a solution.
Many lessons have been lost through practice of bad habits and that pain is compounding. People will start to look, listen and practice the first principals and simple truths again.
For example; “pay yourself first”, every day you work, the first hour of wages should be saved. DCA or Dollar Cost Average, don’t try to time the market, just buy at the market price on a regular basis.
These two simple habits will allow normal people to beat the average trader and can empower people when saving hard money that is also being used as a circulating currency.
I say this in the midst of another week here in El Salvador living the Bitcoin Standard as best we can.
We had failed transactions due to poor implementations, due to security checking, due to liquidity issues and growing pains. But these are things that can be improved upon as we build experience.
These issues are not so much protocol issues. They are created by people trying to protect themselves and others, trying to build complicated systems that might not be required and trying to push the boundaries of the new technology.
I have a lot of hope as I watch people patiently work with the opportunity, even without knowing how it can or might be changing their lives very soon. As I know there are people who are consciously working to provide that light switch.
My takeaway this week, work on basic good habits, while others work on the technical stuff in behind.
Peace and Bitcoin
